Scholarships & Financial Aid

How do I find out about scholarships available to students?
Scholarship information can be obtained through Naviance-Family Connection, through specific college websites, and through large scholarship databases such as:

Does Mahopac High School post scholarship information from specific colleges and universities?
No.  Because of the large number of colleges and universities, students are encouraged to contact the specific schools they are interested in to investigate scholarships offered.

What types of scholarships does Mahopac High School post and where can I access the information?
Mahopac High School posts a small database of scholarships which can be accessed through Naviance.  (Please contact your school counselor or secretary if you need your Naviance code).

Scholarships posted come from local sources and organizations that contact MHS with scholarship information.  Naviance will provide information as to where to obtain an application or provide a link to the scholarship website, as not all scholarships use paper application forms.

Are there any other ways students are notified of scholarships?
Yes.  Around February/March, there is a scholarship packet that is sent to seniors from the principal's office.  This packet includes community scholarships and school affiliated scholarships.  Seniors interested in these scholarships should complete the packet and submit to the principal's secretaries.

Where can I get my class rank if it is needed for a scholarship?
Mahopac High School does not rank students.  Instead, a grade distribution chart of the senior class is provided.  This usually meets the scholarship criteria.  If the scholarship requires class rank, please contact the principal's office at 845-628-3256 ext. 11522 or ext. 11523

Where can I access information regarding number of students in the senior class, number of AP/college course offerings, grading scale and weight, etc?
The Mahopac High School Profile is organized each year.  The school profile is available in the Fall and highlights information from the current senior class and graduating senior class data from the previous school year.
The Mahopac High School Profile is sent from the high school to every college that a student applies.  The Mahopac High School Profile will also be posted on the high school website when it is made available.  If the school profile information is needed for a scholarship, please see your counselor or secretary to pick one up in the office or you can download online.
